Providing educational opportunities for students with financial need from Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, and Carrington.
Award Details
Amount and Duration
Variable Award
Award amount is determined by the student's unmet need on their financial aid package. The award is not to exceed the current amount of tuition, mandatory fees, books, room and board at UND (student may attend any institution of their choice).
Renewable Up to 4 Years
The award is renewable for up to 4 years of continuous undergraduate education as long as a 2.0 or "C" average is maintained and a full-time course load is taken each semester.
Direct to Institution
Scholarship funds are sent directly to the institution of higher education. You may attend the college or university of your choice.
Requirements
Eligibility
To be eligible for the M.W.E. Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate financial need (this is of utmost importance)
- Graduated or scheduled to graduate from high school in Grand Forks ND, East Grand Forks MN, or Carrington ND
- Maintained a 2.0 or 'C' average throughout four years of high school
- Been accepted or currently attending a post-secondary institution
- May include individuals who do not have sufficient funds to enter or re-enter college (e.g., military veterans, single mothers, or anyone with a hardship)
Eligible Communities
Applicants must have graduated or be scheduled to graduate from high school in:
- Grand Forks, ND80% of awards
- East Grand Forks, MN80% of awards
- Carrington, ND20% of awards
80% of scholarships are awarded to students from Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. 20% are awarded to students from Carrington.
